Lindsay & Craig
January 12, 2012

All Virginia Tech fans can appreciate the Hokie themed wedding that Lindsay and Craig chose for their 09.10.11 wedding. The ceremony was held at noon, to follow the sequential order of the date. As guests made their way to the 3rd floor of Lane Stadium they first signed a spirit towel and then ceramic platter for the couples “guestbook”. Both the ceremony and reception took place in the South End Zone Stadium Club level room, so guests were able to immediately take their seat at a table and watch the ceremony take place in the center of the room. Afterwards the couple went around campus taking pictures while guests enjoyed delicious appetizers. The tables were set with a maroon satin overlay, orange napkins and centerpieces in maroon and orange made of roses, dahlias, gerbera daisies and berries. The Hokie wedding cake even had bride and groom Hokie Birds on top and Hokie Bird foot prints winding its way to the top. The event would not have been complete without the appearance of the Hokie Bird, who helped the couple cut their cake and the guests were very excited to get their picture taken with him! Congratulations Lindsay and Craig!

Elizabeth & Steven
October 17, 2010

Both Elizabeth and Steven grew up and attend Blacksburg High School and Virginia Tech together so chosing to host their wedding in their hometown didn’t take much considerataion. The day started early at the salon to be ready in time for the 11:00am ceremony at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. After the ceremony guests made there way to the Virginia Tech German Club while the couple went around campus taking pictures with photographer Laura of Laura’s Focus Photography. The deejay and mc of the reception was the wonderful Roy Prusak of RSP Entertainment. Floral decor was provided by Best Wishes and attached to the brides bouquet was a small horseshoe that represents good luck in English tradition. A combination of great frieinds, great music and a wonderful reason to celebrate resulted in an afternoon of fun and a packed dance floor. You can view more pictures from the wedding on the Laura’s Focus Photography blog.

Andrea & Ashley
October 6, 2009

Andrea and Ashley’s whimsical fall wedding was beautiful and elegant. Andrea had a specific vision of her ceremony at the Virginia Tech Duck Pond Amphitheater. Almost a hundred candles lined the amphitheater walls and three large candles were placed in the middle for their unity candle. The aisle was covered in leaves that the bride preserved herself and beautiful flower arrangements by Best Wishes were placed on the side columns. A horse drawn carriage provided by Dori Dell, brought the bride and her father to the ceremony. Afterwards all of the guests moved to the back of the amphitheater where photographer, Magnifico Photography, captured a group photo that documented each guest at the wedding, a great memento for years to come.
The carriage dropped off the new husband and wife at Virginia Tech’s Owen’s Banquet Hall where the reception was held. Grand fireplaces on both sides of the room, detailed wood work and black medieval style chandeliers, the room had the perfect feel to complete the Robin Hood wedding theme. Just as guests were finishing their cake they received a surprise visit from the Hokie bird! The Hokie Bird stayed for an hour taking pictures, dancing and joking with guests, especially the UVA fans. Guests danced through the evening as DJ, Kerry Taylor played a variety of music, inspiring the groomsmen to put on their own performance. At the end of the evening, Magnifico Photography set up the bride and groom for his special sparkler picture, a fun way to end the night! The best part being they get all of their photo’s on a disk the next day, now that’s a quick turn around!

Julie & Jarod
August 5, 2009

Julie and Jarod are a beautiful couple, inside and out, and they knew exactly what they wanted for their wedding! They chose St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Christiansburg, Virginia to hold their ceremony. Julie’s parents were married there too, making it even more special. St. Paul’s is a striking church with a classic white steeple, large open windows aligning the walls and a long aisle. The bridesmaids wore black strapless dresses with bouquets of luscious pink Esperance roses arranged by Gabe and staff at Northside Floral Shop. Julie’s bouquet also had the Esperance roses, along with a few pink lily’s, just beautiful!
After the ceremony, guests travelled to the Virginia Tech Skelton Inn & Conference Center in Blacksburg, Virginia, where they began mingling for cocktail hour. For dinner the ballroom was decorated with black linens, white chair covers with black sashes. The centerpieces too had big pink Esperance roses and white hydrangeas, the arrangements varied between tall trumpet and round glass vases. The food was delicious, the couple chose the Chicken Oscar as one of the items on the buffet, a Skelton Inn favorite. The cake, made by Kelly Cakes of Roanoke was amazing. Each cake layer was designed differently, including the couples monogram on one layer. DJ, Kerri Taylor facilitated the night, interacting with the guests and keeping everyone dancing. At the end of the night all of the guests made their way outside to line the sidewalk with sparklers. Julie and Jarod made their way all the way through the sparkler line to jump in their limousine and be whisked away to their honeymoon. They were finally married!

Brianne & Kevin
July 6, 2009

Brianne and Kevin had a beautiful ceremony at the Virginia Tech War Memorial Chapel. Best Wishes provided floral decor for both the ceremony and reception and the couple chose to use the silver candle opera and aisle décor rented from the chapel. After the ceremony, guests travelled to the Blacksburg Country Club, on the outskirts of town in Ellett Valley. Guests arrived to delicious appetizers displayed on the patio and later moved into the ballroom for dinner and music entertainment by Kerri Taylor. To end the evening, the couple left the reception surrounded by friends and family with sparklers, creating a picture perfect moment.

Jim & Michelle
June 9, 2009

When Jim and Michelle, both Virginia Tech Alumni and current Northern Virginia residents, chose to host their wedding in Blacksburg, Virginia, it only seemed fitting! Travelling back and forth, almost weekly for fall football games, made their long distance planning, seem not so distant at all. Jim and Michelle chose the beautiful Virginia Tech Skelton Inn to host their wedding guests and reception. It was inevitable that the two marry at Virginia Tech War Memorial Chapel, since Jim’s parents married there too, some time ago.
Unique touches filled the night, from the monogrammed cookie favors, cards given to guests to view wedding pictures, serenading by sorority sisters and a last dance that filled the dance floor in bubbles. What a special night!
