Meeting each other in Blacksburg while attending Virginia Tech, Catherine & Josh chose Beliveau Estate located on the rural outskirts of Blacksburg to host their wedding. Beliveau Estate is a Winery, Venue, Bed & Breakfast (Maison Beliveau) all in one, giving some of their family and friends the opportunity to stay on property for the entire weekend. The wedding colors were a rich purple, green and navy blue accents. Her bridal bouquet had lush cream garden roses (that smelled heavenly), dahlias, stock, veronica and eucalyptus. The bridesmaids’ bouquets popped against their eggplant dresses, green cabbage roses, hydrangeas and dark purple stock accents. Catherine and Josh held their ceremony at the hilltop pavilion overlooking the surrounding mountains and shepherds hooks with mason jars filled with flowers lined the aisle. Cocktail hour was held on the back patio and when it was time for dinner, the large sliding doors were opened for everyone to find their seat inside at tables named after places in Blacksburg. The centerpieces were so colorful and had lots of texture, dark purple hydrangea, green bells or Ireland and purple stock. There were so many great details, all captured by the amazing Chelsa Yoder, one of my favorites is the swirling sparkler shot as the couple is kissing!

A beautiful fall wedding in Old Town Alexandria, the ceremony was held at historic Christ Church built more than 235 years ago. Afterwards, guests were able to walk a few blocks to the reception at Lee Fendall House. The rustic and simple, green and yellow color scheme was carried throughout the event. The cocktail tables had clusters of yellow freesia in mason jars wrapped with raffia ribbon. There were two different designs for the centerpieces. The first was a cluster of mostly white hydrangea with yellow calla lily & snapdragon accents, placed in a square vase with lime slices. The second design was yellow snapdragons, green hydrangea and white dahlias in a cylinder vase with an aspedistra leaf swirled inside. Lanterns and candles scattered throughout the tent provided a romantic glow as nightfall set in. Congrats Shannon & Paul, what a great wedding!!!

Quickly recovering from the wind storm the tore across Virginia the day before the wedding, you would have never known that tent poles had snapped in half, stacks of dishes fell over and strands of lights came apart. The weather the day of the wedding was perfect (although hot) and you could see storms dancing all across the mountain tops around us. Guests stayed at Olde Mill Resort (without power because of the storm) and were transported to the venue on buses giving them the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. The wedding was held at Heavens Holler Bed and Breakfast, owned by John and Linda Franklin, parents of the bride.
As the buses arrived, guests were greeted by cocktails and cold beverages on the front porch of the house and yard games to keep everyone entertained. Once it was time for the ceremony to begin, everyone made their way through the gardens and took their seat. The beautiful mountain views of Floyd Virginia in the background, was a breathtaking backdrop. The bride made her way down the stairs of the cottage and down the rose petal covered aisle with flower arrangements in mason jars were hanging on shepherd hooks along the edge.
After the ceremony the mason jar arrangements were moved to the guest tables to be placed in a grouping with two other vases in varying sizes. The flowers were hydrangeas, dahlias, coral roses, yellow button mums and lilies picked from the mom’s garden and arranged by Diamond Events. Other unique décor included a ceiling covered in string lights and rustic wooden tables that belonged to the bride were used for the guestbook display, cake, family, dessert and food display tables. The menu was very customized and included many dishes that incorporated the grooms Venezuelan background and traditions. Under the wedding cake were strands of ribbons, so that all of the single ladies could surround the cake and whoever pulled out the ribbon that had a charm on the end, received a special gift from the grooms mother.
Just before midnight the wedding party appeared in festive party gear to start the La Hora Loca, which is a lively transition to keep guests dancing and energized until the wee hours of the night. At midnight a delicious snack buffet opened with Arepas and Chupe Criollo and was very well received. Congratulatons Greta & Alejandro, what a great time!
